Oh yes oh yes Glastonbury was the b-e-s-t

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 4, 2010 by jack lomax

Well wot a wicked weekend that was – good times to remember! Mutate related humans are now crash-landing back to earth. Big ups to all of you who came and down saw the Unfairground and thanks to everyone who made it possible – not least Joe Rush and the Mutoids!

The Mutoid Waste Comapny, Joe, Wreckage, Sam, Mauritzio, Fang, Lyle, Bez, Sharkey, Strummerville, Obey, Dotmasters, Dead Leg, Dr D, David Walker, The Baroness Carrie von Reichardt, dog faced Teddy Baden…

…who let him out?

We had Thom Yorke playing a secret set in the Aeroplane (pictured top) plus wicked resident DJs in the Rebel Sonix/Ross Allen/DJ Jawa/Motive style. Sunday at 5am was a moment – but then so was Saturday 9am, Friday… Thursday…. Monday… all day everyday – what day of the week was it when? Blast off!

…good times and good people as someone once said. And finally… the biggest props go to Liam, with out whom none of this is ever possible, and of course Garfield, Dhughal, Charlie, Phil G, Rhys and last but never least Luke:

Oh (Columbo style) –  and one more thing, support the Robin Hood Tax – it’s still a no brainer!

Packa’s Dragon is mutating for Glastonbury

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 13, 2010 by jack lomax

Here’s Packa’s Dragon at our Glasto warm up party, it will be making it’s first full outing at the festival, complete with body, wings and tail – fear the flaming beast!

If you’re coming to Glasto then don’t forget to pay us a visit, we’re in The Unfairground with the Mutoids and Bez and Mani – it’ll be back to the old school festival vibes in our corner! Map here

Secret DJs aplenty in our corner, with Rebel Sonix (pictured) keeping their hands on the DJ/VJ tiller – plus what promises to be a mind blowing performance from RizMC’s MICroscope interactive visual extravaganza. You might know Riz from his lead roles in Chris Morris’s Terrorist Comedy ‘4 Lions’, Chalie Brooker’s ‘Dead Set’ and Peter Kozminski’s ‘Britz’ – all of which were exceptional dramas – Riz is a real talent AND a sick MC, his new project involves crowd interatcion and a story that will leave you  questioning your very ears!  Check this Losers Dan Hiller video I posted a while back:

There will be all kinds of giant Mutoid sculpture and brand new Street Art – even new work from Obey! More on that in next few days…

Mutate support The Robin Hood Tax Campaign

Posted in Art, News with tags , , , , , , , , on April 22, 2010 by jack lomax

Bill Nighy, Tom Felton and some other aspiring celebs came to Cordy House to see the work of Dr D, Wreckage, Teddy Baden, Peter Dunne, Carrie Reichardt, War Boutique, Dotmasters, David Walker and kennardphillipps. So I thought it would be a shame not to film it. Here are the results for your ocular pleasurement:

Mutate Britain and The Robin Hood Tax – celebrity election special!

Posted in Art, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 16, 2010 by jack lomax

Massive thanks to everyone who came yesterday to support our Robin Hood Tax campaign day. Hannah Cameron (no relation!), Nicky Wimble, Richard Curtis, Bill Nighy, Noel Clarke, Tom Felton and Joe Dempsie – great to have you all here and using your skills and profile to contribute to this excellent campaign. You can support it here

I’ve really enjoyed the chance to make some Street Art with real substance happen. The whole thing really was a ‘no brainer’ – not least because the contributing artists have been making work that relates to the bastard bankers’ social crimes for some time! Did you know that when the RHT campaign was launched Goldman Sachs attacked it? Pretty low. Check this Telegraph article and this Dr D subvertisment. My respect and thanks goes to Dr D, Pete Dunne, Wreckage, Teddy Baden, Her Imperial Majesty The Baroness Carrie von Reichardt, Dotmasters, War Boutique, kennardphillipps and David Walker.

I think the best Street Art criticises consumer culture, presents ideas for change and makes a city-wide game that is an alternative to the commercial visual drivel of the information age we are all immersed in… down with visual drivel, up with real substance!

All conquering respect and love to all the Mutationerizers who get it done, including but not limited to… Liam Hayhow, Garfield Hackett, Joe Rush, Wreckage, Sam Haggerty, Teddy Baden, and Hugo Toland!
