LARRY BRAVES THE COLD

At 8pm this evening ( 20.12.08 ) – if you have missed Larry so far he is coming out from Behind the Shutters again to have a wonder up and down the Hoxton Streets! With him will be a two headed horse and some amazing costumes flagging him either side!

Just confirmed to be added to the excellent new line up of artists adorning the walls this Thursday is Billy Macrae with his photography exhibition –  London activism – ‘Moments of protest’.

Thursday new additions

This week sees more new blood from Thursday onwards. New photographic exhibition – UNDER THE WESTWAY – TRAVELLERS IN LONDON – photographs by Elinor Fahrman & Eva Edsjo

To add to that a second new photographic exhibition by ALEX FASKO will be previewing and Chris Salewicz will also be reading extracts from his personal books about Joe Strummer & Keith Richards
 
If all of that make you a bit peckish then DANTES FRIED CHICKEN SHOW NYC – will be on hand showing an  exclusive screening of this cult internet phenomenom – ‘DANTES FRIED CHICKEN SHOW NYC’- featuring SANTOGOLD (in her 1st ever gig)

Dante will also be serving up a special Mutate Britain menu and an exclusive DFC fanzine with art from the celebrated 21MC collective as well as dj’s flown over specially for this launch

Little Buddie going up

Little Buddie images are going up on the walls as we speak and are looking great. Ben Rayner will be launching his book tomorrow evening and the exhibition will be up for the public until Sunday.

Jibbering

With only a day to go before the 3rd fresh launch of the epic show Mutate Britain, Behind the Shutters Gallery is full of the sounds of drills as Jibbering Art are putting the last finishing touches to their beast of an exhibition, 0121.

With nineteen street artists exhibiting, Jibbering Art have pulled together the godfathers of the UK graffiti scene with the new blood of the scene.

Artists exhibiting are: 9T,China, David Gaskgarth, Dora, Dscreet, Fluid, Glenn Anderson, Jinpow, Juice 126, Log, Mac 1, Marq Tu, Newso, Part2ism, Plimsoul, Remi/Rough, Rowdy, Semor & Co & Zoot.

This exhibition promises to be fresh and very different to the work that is currently being produced in the London urban art scene. Expect sculpture, original new pieces, limited edition prints and a few surprises!

Mofo to have first exhibition at Behind the Shutter this Thursday

The long awaited first exhibition of Mofo‘s candid protraits is finally upon us and at Behind the Shutters no less! The exhibition will showcase both private work and portraits of female celebrities including Sadie Frost and Lois Winstone among others.
